Tell Me Lies is coming back for a third season — one that star Grace Van Patten promised will be filled with "endless" drama.

In November 2025, the actress, who plays Lucy Albright in the series, told PEOPLE, "I'm scared for the audience. Everything's coming to a head, and everything's getting more and more tangled and intertwined."

Based on Carola Lovering's 2018 novel of the same name, the drama centers around students Lucy and Stephen DeMarco (Jackson White), who meet in 2007 while attending Baird College in upstate New York.

The Hulu series follows the characters in dual timelines — 2008 and 2015 — as it shows how their toxic and turbulent relationship forever alters them, as well as the lives of their closest friends and family.

When it comes to Lucy and Stephen's relationship, White told PEOPLE he thinks "there's something satisfying about seeing two really destructive people just find comfort in each other." He added, "It's like, it's very Bonnie and Clyde ... I don't know, there's something satisfying about it."

Since season 2 of Tell Me Lies ended in October 2024, details have continued to be shared about the next chapter at Baird College.

Yes, it was announced that Hulu had renewed Tell Me Lies for a third season in December 2024.

The series has been a hit for Hulu, with Deadline reporting that it "stayed in the Hulu Top 15 for over 50 straight days throughout its Season 2 run."

When Tell Me Lies was given the green light for season 3, it was also revealed that series showrunner Meaghan Oppenheimer had inked an overall deal with 20th TV, which is part of Disney Television Studios.

In a statement, Karey Burke, president of 20th Television, said, “Meaghan has shepherded Tell Me Lies for two intensely addictive seasons that fueled an incredible wave of obsessive fan and social conversation. We are thrilled to have her officially in the studio fold and at the helm of another dramatic season.”

Viewers won't have to wait too much longer to get answers following season 2's intense bombshell-filled finale.

The first two episodes of Tell Me Lies season 3 will premiere on Hulu (and on Disney+ with the Hulu on Disney+ bundle) on Jan. 13, 2026.

Who is in the cast of Tell Me Lies season 3?

Both Van Patten and White have confirmed they're returning for Tell Me Lies season 3 after White previously told E! News that he "would love to do season 3."

"Some of my closest friends I met on this show," he said in October 2024. "It's so fun to make it with them." (White and Van Patten have been dating since 2022, when they met while filming the first season.)

Other season 2 cast members include Spencer House, Catherine Missal, Sonia Mena, Branden Cook and Tom Ellis.

In May 2025, Ellis confirmed to PEOPLE that he will be returning for the upcoming set of episodes, saying, "Yes, I'm going back."

When it comes to new cast additions, Iris Apatow has joined season 3 in a recurring role. Deadline reports that she will play Amanda, "a bubbly but fragile college freshman keeping a big secret."

The outlet also previously reported that Costa D’Angelo has come aboard for the latest installment. The actor will portray Alex, "a psychology grad student and part-time drug dealer who has a complicated past with Bree (Missal)."

In an October 2024 interview with Variety, Oppenheimer said she had mapped out the series "way in advance."

"I think by the third season, we will still have some 2008 because there’s stuff that we have to wrap up there," she explained. "But I think it would be a little bit shifted in the sense that there will probably be more 2015 than 2008."

Oppenheimer added that "there would probably be a time jump" for season 3.

At CBS Fest in Los Angeles in May 2025, Ellis — who is married to Oppenheimer — told PEOPLE he had read the scripts for the first four episodes of season 3, teasing that fans "will not be disappointed."

"It is as dark, toxic, and funny as ever," he said. "And just when you thought our characters couldn't do anything more ridiculous to themselves, they ended up doing it."

Hulu released the synopsis for the upcoming season in November 2025.

“When they promise things will be different this time, past indiscretions hinder their best intentions, and Lucy finds herself embroiled in a controversy she wants nothing to do with,” the synopsis says, via Deadline. “Meanwhile, the disastrous repercussions from the previous year also force Lucy and Stephen’s friends to face their own destructive behaviors.”

The same month, Van Patten told PEOPLE that fans will "start to see these characters actually face consequences, which is new."

"I'm so curious to hear what people think — and I'm obsessed with the ending," she said. "I'm really excited for the reactions to that."

Is there a trailer for Tell Me Lies season 3?

On Dec. 17, Hulu released the full trailer for Tell Me Lies season 3.

The new footage starts off with Lucy recording a confession, telling the camera, "I need to apologize to everyone, so I am making this tape to say that I am so sorry."

She and Stephen are back together, but their relationship isn't exactly on solid ground — and the same can be said for the other couples on the show, including Bree and Oliver.
