Tom Felton Sets Final Performance as Draco Malfoy in Broadway’s “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child”

Tom Felton will extend his Broadway run in Harry Potter and the Cursed Child through Jan. 3, 2027

Felton is the first actor from the original Harry Potter films to reprise his role in the stage production

The play has become Broadway’s third longest-running play, grossing over $430 million and selling 3.5 million tickets

Tom Felton is preparing to say goodbye to Draco Malfoy once again.

The Harry Potter alum has set his final performance in Broadway’s Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, extending his run in the Tony Award-winning play one last time, through Jan. 3, 2027.

Felton — who famously originated the role of Draco in the Harry Potter film franchise — made his Broadway debut in Cursed Child on Nov. 11, 2025, stepping back into Draco’s shoes once again for the first time since filming wrapped on the final Harry Potter movie in 2011.

His history-making run marks the first time an actor from the original Harry Potter films has appeared in the stage production, which continues the story of Harry, Draco, Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger 19 years after the events of J.K. Rowling’s original series.

This time around, Draco is all grown up and a father to Scorpius Malfoy, whose unexpected friendship with Harry’s son, Albus Potter, sets off a journey through time with consequences for both their families.

The next-generation story has been a must-see for Harry Potter fans since it opened in April 2018. Felton’s casting only added to the excitement, with audiences regularly flocking to New York City’s Lyric Theatre to catch Felton deliver the familiar “Scared, Potter?” taunt yet again.

In fact, Felton’s run was so popular, he extended multiple times. Most recently, the actor had been scheduled to appear in the production through Nov. 1.

Now, fans have a few more weeks to see Felton in the show, though he has several planned absences scheduled. He will not appear from Aug. 17 to 23, Sept. 14 to 20, Oct. 12 to 18, or at the Nov. 2 performance.

Returning to the world of Harry Potter proved to be an emotional homecoming for Felton.

The actor previously told PEOPLE playing Draco again more than a decade after leaving Hogwarts behind felt almost surreal, particularly because Cursed Child gave him the opportunity to explore a different side of the character.

“I keep thinking I’m dreaming,” Felton told PEOPLE at the 2025 Tony Awards. “I just never saw myself having blonde hair again and reprising that role.”

“Now as a dad, Draco has a son,” he added. “So yes, it is an old character, but in a very new set of circumstances. I’m excited to explore it.”

Felton also came into the production as a longtime admirer of the show, telling PEOPLE he was a “huge fan” who had already seen it “a dozen times, nearly in England and a few times now on Broadway.”

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is the eighth story in the Harry Potter series and the first to be presented onstage. Written by Jack Thorne and based on an original story by J.K. Rowling, Thorne and director John Tiffany, the play had its world premiere in London in July 2016.

Since then, more than 11 million tickets have been sold worldwide. The production has earned 60 major honors, including nine Laurence Olivier Awards and six Tony Awards.

The show has also become the most successful non-musical play in Broadway history, grossing more than $430 million and selling more than 3.5 million tickets in New York. It currently ranks as Broadway’s third longest-running play.

In addition to New York, productions are currently running in London, Hamburg, Tokyo and the Netherlands, while a North American touring production continues across the continent.

The current Broadway cast of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is led by John Skelley as Harry Potter and Trish Lindstrom as Ginny Potter, with Emmet Smith as their son Albus Potter. Rachel Christopher and Daniel Fredrick play Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley, respectively, with Janae Hammond as their daughter Rose Granger-Weasley. Aidan Close plays Draco’s son Scorpius Malfoy and Kristen Martin plays Delphi Diggory.

Additionally, the cast includes Chadd Alexander, John Alix, Logan Becker, Darby Breedlove, Megan Byrne, James Cribbins, Ted Deasy, Gary-Kayi Fletcher, Dani Goldberg, Alexis Gordon, Caleb Hafen, Logan James Hall, Chance Marshaun Hill, Jamie Jackson, Jay Mack, Samaria Nixon-Fleming, Bradley Patchett, Alexandra Peter, Dan Plehal, Allie Re, Gabrielle Reid, Isaac Phaman Reynolds, Will Rhem Jr., Kiaya Scott, Maren Searle, Tom Stephens, Khadija Tariyan, Baylen Thomas and Riley Thad Young.
