Sign Sydney Sweeney up for more Housemaid movies.

The actress stars as Millie in director Paul Feig's new psychological thriller The Housemaid, and she tells PEOPLE she's more than eager to reprise her role in potential sequel movies.

"I would love to," says Sweeney, 28. "I was such a huge fan of the books, so I would be just as happy as everyone else being able to see more Housemaids come to life and getting to explore more of Millie."

The Euphoria star adds of her character, "She's spicy. She is a fighter. She knows what she believes in and she stands up for it. I love characters like that." Sweeney also declares: "I love seeing movies that have just fully embraced female rage."

There's plenty of room for more installments. Author Freida McFadden followed up her 2022 bestseller with two more novels: The Housemaid's Secret in 2023 and The Housemaid Is Watching in 2024. Set between those two is the short story The Housemaid's Wedding.

At the New York premiere of The Housemaid, McFadden told PEOPLE she'd "love" to see the other entries make it to the big screen: "That would be a dream. I know Paul Feig would do an amazing job in the sequel. He’s incredible."

Feig, 63, is confident a sequel is possible "if people go to the movies and make this happen," he says. For now, he's just happy McFadden approves of his take on the story.

"It's such a relief and a real joy [that she likes it] because some authors can get very precious about their project. But Freida's such a great entertainer," he says. "Her books are meant to entertain. She embraced the fact that we wanted to make the movie ... really entertaining. She went along with that in a great way."

The A Simple Favor filmmaker adds, "I also try to be very, very true to the book. We were pretty good at kind of following everything. The things we changed were things that we wanted to be a little more cinematic."

The Housemaid is in theaters now.
