There are even more twists to come in the final installment of Stranger Things.
As the series finale approaches (Dec. 31 at 8 p.m. ET), executive producer and director Shawn Levy tells PEOPLE that fans "get a lot" more information in the last episode.
"You will get an even deeper understanding of Henry Creel and Vecna," Levy, 57, teases. "You will get outcomes."
Calling episode eight, which has a runtime of over two hours, a "masterpiece," Levy says fans can expect "outcomes that are deeply satisfying, but many of which are completely surprising."
"I just want to assure all of the people around the world who have walked the long road with us for nearly a decade, this finale is what you've been waiting for."

"It is both informationally satisfying, but most importantly, profoundly emotionally satisfying," Levy adds.
Levy previously called the show's last episode "a finale that's as good as any TV series finale I've seen in my life" on the red carpet at the Los Angeles premiere of season 5 on Nov. 6.
He also told PEOPLE that fans can expect "a resolution to the whole Jancy Stancy controversy/triangle" in the final season. He was true to his word. In Volume 2, Nancy (Natalia Dyer) and Jonathan (Charlie Heaton) broke up, though Nancy did not choose to be with Steve (Joe Keery) instead.

The final episode of the hit Netflix series has also been called the "best episode" so far by star David Harbour.
Weeks before filming wrapped on the series, Harbour, who plays Jim Hopper, teased that the Duffer brothers "land the plane" with the finale, "and it is the best episode theyâve ever done.â
He acknowledged that he "can be very critical of this show," because of how closely involved he is, which made his stamp of approval all the more important.

âThe end of this episode, when we were reading it â just us reading it â about halfway through, people started crying,â Harbour said. âThen, about the last 20 minutes, it was just uncontrollably crying, waves of different people. Noah Schnapp being my favorite."
Harbour is not the only castmember who has called out how emotional Schnapp, 21, was on that day.
"I was sitting in front of Noah and Finn [Wolfhard]," Heaton, 31, told Variety of the table read. "I assumed it might get emotional. But 20 minutes in â and weâre not even a third into the script â Noah is bawling his eyes out, like deep sobs. And then Finn was crying. That really set everyone off."
Wolfhard, 22, told the outlet that the last table read was filmed and said the footage will be "pretty embarrassing" if it's ever released.
"The whole thing is just crying. I was like, 'Iâm not going to cry. Iâm going to feel very normal, and itâs going to be great.' And then halfway through, I just started totally bawling my eyes out."
Volumes 1 and 2 of Stranger Things season 5 are streaming now on Netflix. The finale drops Dec. 31 at 8 p.m. ET.
