Giorgio Armani is kicking off Milan Design Week with its second Armani/Archivio collection.

The digital platform, which launched last summer timed to the label’s 50th anniversary, is an archival project that aims to preserve and enhance the brand’s rich heritage through the years. It collects and brings together historic pieces over five decades, acting as a “conceptual dictionary” that showcases iconic vintage looks.

The latest drop, out today, features 13 men’s and women’s looks from Giorgio Armani lines between 1979 to 1994, which were each faithfully reproduced for modern shoppers. The selection centers on the jacket, in the many forms designed by the label’s late namesake designer, who passed away a week after the inaugural Armani/Archivio debut. Among the highlights include signature Armani suiting staples in a wide range of silhouettes and materials, as well as leather jackets, including a collarless-iteration with moto-inspired details from the 1981 collection.

Per the press release, the new collection “represents a bridge between past and future, offering new generations the opportunity to rediscover the essence of the brand through the principle of circularity summed up in the concept Past Perfect. Future Ready.”

To supplement the launch, Giorgio Armani tapped creative director and photographer Eli Russell Linnetz for the campaign, featuring fresh imagery that pays homage to the brand’s early campaigns.

For the occasion, a series of invitation-only talks with key figures in fashion archiving and collecting are set to take place at the Giorgio Armani boutique on Via Sant’Andrea over the next week.

The second Armani/Archivio collection will be available to shop on armani.com, as well as in select Giorgio Armani boutiques and at Apropos Berlino, Just One Eye Los Angeles, and MyTheresa.com. Check out the rest of the collection below.
