Prince Harry reportedly contacted an "intermediary" for help amid his estrangement from his older brother Prince William, a royal source claims.
Finding Freedom author Omid Scobie told Us Weekly that Prince Harry reached out to a mutual friend to help them facilitate a conversation.

Prince Harry’s ongoing feud with his older brother Prince William shows little sign of defrosting. Despite the Duke of Sussex recently making inroads with his dad King Charles during a surprise meeting, the brothers were last seen interacting with each other in 2022 as part of a procession for Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral. However, a royal source claims that Prince Harry wasn’t ready to let his relationship with Prince William go without a last-ditch effort, even reaching out to an intermediary to facilitate a conversation with him.
Finding Freedom: Harry and Meghan and the Making of a Modern Royal Family author Omid Scobie recently told Us Weekly that even amid their estrangement, Prince Harry still tried to find a way to keep the channels of communication open with his older brother. “When I wrote my last book [Endgame], I was having conversations with people very close to Harry, and one of the things that was shared with me was that Harry had reached out to an intermediary, kind of mutual friend between himself and his brother, hoping that would allow them to have some kind of conversation together, maybe with someone present, or through whatever channel,” Scobie told the publication.

However, the British author revealed that the conversation ultimately “didn’t happen,” explaining, “It wasn’t received in any way whatsoever, and so from what I see now from the outside, it looks like that stone wall is still up. Unless the attitudes change on both sides, we’re never going to find any way to resolution.”

Despite Scobie’s claims, longtime royal reporter Russell Myers reported in his upcoming biography William and Catherine: The Monarchy’s New Era: The Inside Story that Prince William had a hard time coming to terms with the loss of his brother, both personally and as a working royal. “William was intensely saddened at his brother’s decision to quit. He and Harry had been drifting apart for years, but now he knew deep down that there would be no turning back,” Myers wrote in an excerpt shared with People. “Fond memories of their childhood, from helping each other through the tragedy of their mother’s death to growing up in the public eye, were now tarnished by the division at the heart of the family.”

In contrast, Kate Middleton had “less interest” than her husband in trying to convince Harry to stay on as a working royal. Myers claimed that the Princess of Wales “believed William and Harry’s fundamental differences as the ‘heir and the spare’ had created the inevitability of Harry wanting more from his role than being a bit-part player.”
