When Pete Davidson was 7 years old, he lost his beloved father Scott, a New York City firefighter, in the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on the U.S.

On December 12, Davidson and girlfriend Elsie Hewitt welcomed their daughter Scottie, who they named in Davidson’s father’s honor.

Her middle name, Rose, connects her to Hewitt, who also shares that middle name.

Cue the tears—Pete Davidson and Elsie Hewitt’s newborn daughter Scottie Rose Hewitt Davidson was named after Davidson’s late father, Scott, who died in New York City during the September 11, 2001 attacks when Davidson was just 7 years old.

The newborn, who arrived on December 12, also pays homage to her mom, as both Hewitt and Scottie share the same middle name, Rose.

Hewitt shared the happy news of Scottie’s birth to Instagram on December 18, calling their daughter a “perfect angel girl.”

“My best work yet,” she added. “I am absolutely overflowing with love and gratitude and disbelief.”

Davidson—who has referred to his father as a “legend” and a “hero”—previously told E! News that he felt “very lucky and very, very happy” about becoming a father, adding that he was looking forward to “tak[ing] care of something and show[ing] it the childhood I didn’t have.”

“I assume you just try to give them what you didn’t have, and what you didn’t like, not do it,” he continued.

Fatherhood, he added, has “been my dream since I was little, which is cool. When you have dreams when you’re little and then you get older, sometimes those feelings change—that didn’t change for me.”

Davidson’s father Scott Matthew Davidson was a New York City firefighter who died while responding to the terrorist attacks on 9/11. Speaking on a 2022 episode of Kevin Hart’s “Hart to Heart” series, Davidson said, “I tell my friends that all the time, if my childhood was fine I’d probably be a construction worker in Staten Island and be the happiest guy ever. But that weird shit that it does to you made me love comedy.”

Davidson’s mother Amy said of her son’s grieving process that “It was really so hard for him to recover, and I would even say that it’s just been recently that he’s finding his way and being okay,” she told People in 2020.

Back in September, a source told People that Davidson and Hewitt were both “so excited about becoming parents,” adding of Davidson in particular, “it’s clear how much he’s looking forward to fatherhood.”

“He talks about how this is the most meaningful chapter of his life yet, and he’s really embracing it,” the insider added. Of the couple, “They can’t wait to welcome their child and start this next chapter together as a family,” the source continued.

For her part, Hewitt previously said of Davidson, “I could not ask for a better father for my child. I’m so happy it’s him.”
