Padma and Krishna were applauded in the comments for the "real mother-daughter moment"

Padma Lakshmi's daughter Krishna has an announcement to make about her name.

The 15-year-old and the Top Chef alum, 55, stood side-by-side around the stove in an Instagram clip shared on Saturday, Dec. 20. While Krisha snacked on the latkes Padma fried, the high schooler declared, “Wait, can I do a PSA? Can everyone stop calling me Littlehands? It’s like, very weird.”

Littlehands is the cookbook author’s longtime nickname for the teen and typically how the celebrity chef refers to her in Instagram captions.

“Are we retiring Littlehands?” someone behind the camera asked.

“Yeah!” Krishna replied fervently. “I get it, at first it was for privacy reasons, but now it is very weird. Like, that’s not my name, babe.”

The filmer said, “Alright, let's give a eulogy for Littlehands.” “The name,” she quickly added.

Clips of a young Krishna, who Padma shares with Adam Dell, are edited into the video while Sarah McLachlan’s “Angel” plays.

“People will come up to me and be like, ‘Are you Littlehands?’ And I’m like, ‘No.’ Like that’s not my name, I fear,” Krishna continued. “I’m almost 16, come on.”

Finally, Padma spoke for the first time in the clip, saying simply, “Okay.”

Followers had a lot to say about Padma's short response, with many people commiserating with her for the "heartbreaking" conversation.

"Awww I feel kinda sad for Padma. I get why but it’s still kinda sad….she’s growing up🙏🏽," one person wrote. Another person applauded the pair for the mature conversation, with one commenter writing, "This is such a real mother-daughter moment right here. So much respect for the both of you!"

Krishna broached the idea of dropping the nickname during the mother-daughter duo’s conversation with Vogue India, which featured them as the cover stars for the September-October issue.

The teen spoke about her musical and acting aspirations, adding that she wants to be "taken seriously" and known outside of her mother.

"I would like to do something that’s centered around who I am right now, not who I am as Littlehands. My hands — they aren’t so little anymore,” Krishna told the outlet.
