Love Island USA's Amaya Espinal is recovering after being taken to the hospital over the weekend.
The reality star, 26, was taken to a Los Angeles hospital due to severe abdominal pain and has since received emergency surgery, PEOPLE can confirm.
The season 7 winner remains hospitalized in L.A. and is now being monitored by doctors following her surgery earlier this week. She is now in stable condition and not expected to film until the new year.
TMZ was the first to report the news.
Espinal has recently been filming Beyond the Villa, but was not on set during her medical emergency, according to TMZ, which reports that it's unclear what caused it.
The reality star shared a photo on Instagram on Wednesday of several flowers, along with a note from ITV America, wishing her a "speedy recovery."

She also posted on social media before her Wednesday update, sharing a paid partnership post to Instagram on Tuesday, Dec. 16.
Espinal was named the winner of Love Island USA season 7, along with now-ex Bryan Arenales, back in July. Fellow islanders Nic Vansteenberghe and Olandria Carthen finished in second place.
In an interview filmed after the finale episode and shared on Love Island's social media, host Ariana Madix asked Espinal how she planned to spend her $50,000 prize — before she revealed she wanted to donate it to charity. "I wanna give back to a community, that's one of my biggest passions — [which] he asked [about] early on — is just me leaving a positive impact [on] a group of people who are in need," she said at the time.
Speaking with PEOPLE in August, Espinal — who confirmed her split from Bryan after the season 7 reunion aired — said that she was "very optimistic and very hopeful for the future" and happy to have such a large amount of support around me."

"Honestly, it really feels amazing to see that there's so many people that can relate to me and that they see themselves inside a part of me," the 26-year-old said of the fanbase she's built since departing the villa. "It really is such a great feeling, seriously."
When she feels "alone or just down," Espinal added that she's comforted by the thought of her supporters. "Then I remember my Papayas, my family, my friends, and it really does help lift me up," she added, offering a message directly to those fans: "Thank you guys so much for being a part of this journey with me."
