Kate Gosselin has found love again — but not everyone believes her story.

After Kate announced she was in a relationship, her ex-husband, Jon Gosselin, had a lot to say. “I definitely think it’s her bodyguard Steve [Neild], 100 percent. He’s been a consistent person in her life,” he told The Sun in October 2025. “I’m not even upset that she’s with someone … I’m more concerned about when it actually transpired because I know for a long, long time, at least 17 years, that they have been canoodling or together. Obviously it’s been longer than a year.”

Kate later revealed she and Neild, who got divorced in September 2023, were in a relationship.

He Started Working for the Gosselins After the Success of Their Show

Neild began working for Jon and Kate Gosselin after their reality show Jon and Kate Plus 8 became a successful hit for TLC. Neild continued to work for Kate after she and Jon divorced in 2009.

Kate Denied They Had an Affair

Rumors that Kate and Neild had an affair surfaced as she and Jon were divorcing in 2009. Per NBC Washington, Kate shut down those rumors in 2009.

"The next story coming out from the animals that stalk us is about our security person and his family," she said in an interview with People at the time, a reference to Neild. "Already the allegations they're making about me are disgusting, unthinkable, unfathomable, and I am horrified."

He Got a New Job In 2013

Neild took a new job at Viacom as a security consultant in 2013, and started his own company in 2020.

Steve Neild Got Divorced in 2023

Neild was married to ex-wife Gina Neild from September 1990 until they divorced in September 2023. The pair share two children, Kristopher and Michael. In his divorce filing, obtained by Us, he listed the date of marriage as September 22, 1990, and noted that they wed in a ceremony in Auckland, New Zealand.

Kate also revealed she was in a relationship in September 2023 during a TikTok Q&A. When asked if she was dating, Kate replied, “The answer to that question is actually, finally, yes. I am dating somebody for the past year to a little over a year, maybe like 14, 15 months.”

She added, “I am super, super happy. It’s somebody that I’ve known for a really long time and I am very, very happy.”

Kate also told fans that they shouldn’t expect to see too much of Neild on social media. As she put it, “He doesn’t really want to be on TikToks. Can’t blame him really I guess, but you perhaps will catch a peep of him here and there or once in a while going forward.”

Jon Implied Kate Cheated After Her Relationship Reveal

Despite preparing for his own wedding at the time (Jon married Stephanie Lebo in November 2025), Jon posted a screenshot of the Page Six article confirming Kate and Steve were dating soon after the announcement was made and captioned it, “Guess who really ruined the marriage.”

The pair’s son Collin, who is estranged from his mother, also wrote on social media, “What really upsets me is that my mom had an affair with our bodyguard way back in 2009 and for years would share hotel rooms with him while we went on family vacations, while I was in a connected room! Now everyone thinks her being with him is some cute novel romance. By the way my dad received death threats and got shunned by the public for years for ‘having an affair’ and ‘leaving his kids.’”

Jon repeated that claim in an interview with The Sun published in October 2025.

Jon also said, “I was labeled a cheater by TLC and Kate for 17 years. Our divorce didn’t end because I was cheating. Our divorce ended because I knew she was seeing Steve.”
