A former Disney Channel actor has been arrested in Texas.

Matt Prokop, who starred in such projects as *High School Musical 3: Senior Year* and *Geek Charming*, was arrested on Dec. 24 in Victoria County, Texas, reports PEOPLE.

He faces one count of second-degree felony possession of child pornography as well as four misdemeanor charges: one count of evading arrest or detention, one count of a violation of bond — protective order, and two counts of resisting arrest, search, or transportation.

The 35-year-old actor is currently being housed in the Victoria County Sheriff's Office Jail, an employee there told PEOPLE.

Prokop previously faced accusations of domestic abuse from his former girlfriend, *Modern Family* star Sarah Hyland, with whom he starred in *Geek Charming*. Hyland obtained a temporary restraining order against Prokop in 2014 after she accused him of choking her and threatening to burn down her house after she ended their five-year relationship.

Prokop made his screen debut in a 2007 episode of *Hannah Montana*, in which he played Troy McCann. He later appeared on episodes of *The Office*, *Medium*, *Good Luck Charlie*, and *In the Motherhood*. He played the son of Brendan Fraser's character in 2010's *Furry Vengeance*, and later tarred with Hyland in a 2012 episode of *Modern Family*.

In *High School Musical 3*, Prokop portrayed Jimmie Zara, a freshman on the East High basketball team. His last screen credit was in the 2013 movie *April Apocalypse*.

Prokop announced that he had gotten engaged and launched an OnlyFans in a 2024 Instagram post.

Hyland recently reflected on surviving alleged domestic abuse in a 2024 speech. "It takes courage to wake up every morning and face the world knowing that people may have no idea what you are going through," she said while accepting *Variety*'s Courage Award at the publication's Power of Women event. "It is all too easy to feel isolated and misunderstood, no matter how strong you are."

She also expressed her gratitude to her onscreen *Modern Family* mom, Julie Bowen, for helping her as she ended her relationship with Prokop. "I want to support others in the way that Julie and all of my close ones have done for me," she said at the event.

Bowen discussed supporting Hyland in a 2024 interview with the *Skinny Confidential Him & Her Podcast*. "I was a responsible adult that happened to be around at the right time," she said. "But, I mean, I'm sure another responsible adult would have done the exact same thing. I just love her."
