He once put a hip-hop spin on "You're a Mean One, Mr. Grinch." Now, famed rapper Tyler, The Creator is back with an all-new track released on Christmas Day.
The Grammy winner, 34, surprised fans with a gritty new freestyle song "Sag Harbor," whose title references a Hamptons location on New York's Long Island.
Tyler reflects on a successful year throughout the track, as Billboard points out, with the music artist alluding to his fourth consecutive No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 courtesy of Don’t Tap the Glass. He also seems to have big plans for future concerts, according to the "Sag Harbor" lyrics, as Tyler raps that he's "on the road to doin’ stadiums next."
And as the video closes, the following text appears on-screen: "What an incredible year, thank you for all the eyes and ears." That's evidence enough that "Sag Harbor" is the rapper taking an opportunity to bask in his various 2025 wins.
Fans seem to love the surprise release, showing their support in the comments section of Tyler's recent Instagram post promoting the track. "MERRY CHRISTMAS TO US AHHHH THANK U TYLER," wrote one user, while another person commented, "Santa officially gave me everything I asked for."
And given the timing of Tyler's "Sag Harbor" release, his fans will probably recall the rapper's involvement in the music behind the Christmas movieThe Grinch (2018). In addition to providing two songs for the animated film's soundtrack, he also went to release an EP with additional tracks, titled Music Inspired by Illumination & Dr. Seuss' The Grinch.
The Christmas 2025 release timing is also significant since it was the same day his feature film debut dropped in theaters. Tyler stars alongside Timothée Chalamet in A24's Marty Supreme, which has received rave reviews and performed well at the box office thus far for an independent movie.
