Krysten Ritter's Jessica Jones makes her grand return to the Marvel universe with the sixth episode of *Daredevil: Born Again* season 2, but she's not alone. It's a whole family affair that signals the arrival of another prominent Defender.
Jones enters the fray when the men under the employ of Mr. Charles (Matthew Lillard) attack her at her home, where we meet Danielle, her daughter.
In Marvel Comics, Danielle is the child of Jessica Jones and Luke Cage, the bulletproof Harlem Hero. One alternate universe sees her inheriting the powers of both parents and becoming her world's Captain America. It's unclear what powers the Danielle of *Daredevil: Born Again* may or may not have, but we know her birth impacted Jessica's.
"After Danielle, it just drops out sometimes, then comes back," she says in episode 6, "Requiem," referring to the sudden spurts where her super strength becomes inactive. "I don't think there's an owner's manual for this s---." We see how that plays out in a warehouse battle.

Forced to enter the battle against Fisk (Vincent D'Onofrio), Jessica meets Daredevil (Charlie Cox) on a rooftop overlooking a warehouse that holds a stash of Kingpin's guns. During that exchange, she mentions how Mr. Charles called her a while back. He was "interested in people like us," she says — meaning super-powered individuals. "I told him to f--- off. Not everyone I know did."
So Luke seems to be off working for Mr. Charles somewhere, and the bespectacled government goon appears to be her only connection to him.

“I’ve had discussions with Marvel," he said confirmed at the time, "and I do think that it’s very, very likely that I will come back at some point, but I don’t know when. But I think I will."
