The revelation that Cher and Julie Andrews are secretly in-laws is as mind-bending as trying to spell supercalifragilisticexpialidocious.

The 79-year-old singer just learned last year that she was a first-time grandmother, when it was confirmed that her son, Elijah Blue Allman, fathered a baby in 2010 with a woman who has a Hollywood lineage of her own.

Kayti Edwards, the step-granddaughter of Andrews, broke the news publicly on Sunday in an interview with *The Sun*.

"Cher got in touch with me last June and asked if it was true, so I had to confess," said Edwards, whose mother Jennifer is the daughter of filmmaker Blake Edwards, Andrews' husband from 1969 until his death in 2010. "She said she had heard something about it from Elijah back in 2021, but didn't know if it was just crazy talk. When she heard the news, she was speechless."

Three months later, Cher met her granddaughter, Ever, for the first time when she invited Edwards and the 15-year-old to her Malibu home.

"She was lovely and kind and we had dinner," said Edwards, who lives about three hours away in Joshua Tree, Calif. "Cher asked Ever if she wanted to see her closet and showed her a pair of jeans she had worn in concert. It was a cool experience for her. Cher was very childlike. They played in the pool and she spoke to Ever about school and asked her about boys. She was like a kid herself."

Cher, who has been seeking a conservatorship for her troubled son since 2023, is still "processing the news" of her no-longer-secret granddaughter, but "really trying" to make up for lost time with Ever.

"Cher sent her a Christmas card and present," revealed Edwards. "It was a Chrome Hearts hoodie. And then for her birthday, she sent her some money and Chrome Hearts sweats. She called her and they spoke on the phone… It's an adjustment and I'm not pushing any relationship. It has to come naturally."

According to Edwards, she and Allman — whose father was the late rocker Gregg Allman — had been friends for years when one night together resulted in pregnancy.

Allman knew Ever was his daughter, "but he never wanted to be a parent," Edwards said. She raised the girl with her husband, and Allman "would pop in every couple of years but would just say hello."

It wasn't until his 2021 drug overdose when Allman "blurted out" to his then-wife, Marieangela King, that he had a child. "This is what started the rumors in the family," explained Edwards, who owns a horse rescue center.

Last June, Allman reached out to Edwards asking "if he could come to Joshua Tree as he needed to get out of Hollywood." She told *The Sun* "as soon as he stepped out of the car, I knew he wasn't well."

Weeks later, he overdosed again and was hospitalized, "and this was when Cher got in touch," said Edwards. "She wanted to know what had happened and then she asked me if it was true regarding Ever. That's when I had to tell her the situation."

Edwards admitted she didn't say anything to Cher sooner because Allman had said she "didn't want to be a grandma and to keep Ever away." But now that they've finally connected, "it's been nothing but a good experience."

The two women are also aligned on getting Allman the help he needs. Only then can he be in his daughter's life, according to Edwards.

Last year, when Allman came out to Joshua Tree, the teen was told he was "just a family friend."

"I had to shelter her from him and, when he gets better, he will appreciate that," added Edwards. "Cher is also very protective of Ever and the family dynamic and she knows Elijah's state and wants to protect that from her, too."

It's unclear if Ever has a relationship with her equally famous great-grandmother. Edwards told *The Sun *that being Andrews' granddaughter was "not all it’s cracked up to be."

"I craved the ideal of grandma baking cookies in the kitchen with me, but it wasn't like that," she admitted. "We had cooks and were raised by nannies. To talk to my grandma, I had to call her assistant… It's not a normal life and I never wanted that for Ever."
