Bridgerton season 4's first official trailer dropped on Christmas Day.

The new season focuses on Benedict Bridgerton pursuing a mysterious woman he meets at a masquerade ball.

In a Cinderella-esque twist, that woman is actually a maid named Sophie, who is right under the same roof as our lovestruck lothario.

Dearest gentle reader, your patience has paid off and now it's time for a Christmas treat in the form of the first official trailer for Bridgerton season 4 in all its fairy-tale glory.

The new season of the Regency Era drama (hitting Netflix Jan. 29) follows the ton's resident F-boy, Benedict Bridgerton (Luke Thompson), on his quest to find someone he deems marriage material on his mother's behest. As the newly released trailer shows, things seem to be taking a turn for the notorious rake when he attends a masquerade ball and encounters "perhaps the most intriguing person I've ever met."

But Lady Whistledown loyalists know courtship is rarely that easy. Just as the pair leans in for a kiss in the new footage, the clock strikes midnight and the masked woman flees, leaving our dear Benny boy with only a lone glove as a clue to her identity.

To further this Cinderella story, the trailer reveals only to viewers that the masked maiden is actually a local maid, Sophie Baek (Yerin Ha), playing dress up for the night. We see that Benedict and Sophie do later encounter each other, but she does not reveal her true identity.

"He does not want to find me; he wants to find the lady in the silver gown, and she is not real," Sophie laments as a lovestruck Benedict is seen painting a portrait of the object of his affection, not realizing she is under the same roof — and lurking lakeside as he emerges from a skinny dip.

"We start with a character trope that we've seen a million times before, which is a maid who falls for someone above her station," writer, producer, and showrunner Jess Brownell previously teased in Entertainment Weekly's season 4 preview. "But I think a lot of times in these classic Cinderella-like stories, Cinderella is a bit of a damsel in distress. And, in the case of Sophie Baek, she is no such thing. We get to watch a very headstrong young woman try to decide her fate for herself and pick up the courage to believe in and dream for a life greater than the one she currently has."

Elsewhere in the trailer, we get a glimpse of widowed matriarch Lady Violet Bridgerton (Ruth Gemmell) pursing things with her own love interest in Lady Danbury's charming brother, Lord Marcus Anderson (Daniel Francis), which we saw hinted at last season.

There are also shots of two newlywed Bridgertons getting hot and heavy with their recent spouses: Francesca (Hannah Dodd) with husband John Stirling (Victor Alli), and Colin (Luke Newton) with Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan) a.k.a. the now exposed queen of society gossip.

The first installment of Bridgerton season 4 arrives on Netflix on Jan. 29, with part two coming Feb. 26.
