Anya Taylor-Joy recalled working on the demanding Australian set of George Miller's 2024 film Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga.

"If I were to be completely honest about my experience, it would hurt nobody but myself," she said of her experience.

Taylor-Joy spent months on set advocating for the fate of her character Furiosa.

Anya Taylor-Joy isn't ready to talk about working with director George Miller about Furiosa.

Taylor-Joy, who stars in the upcoming Apple TV series Luckybased on the book of the same name by Marissa Stapley, is reflecting on her time filming the 2024 action film in Australia for six months.

The actress told The Hollywood Reportershe was eager to join the saga after seeing Mad Max: Fury Road in theaters: "It was my dream to be in these Mad Max movies and as this crazy feminist icon."

She continued, "I knew that I would enter Australia and leave changed. That's part of what attracted me to it."

The director instructed the actors to be still and stoic while on the set of Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, she claimed, which didn't come naturally for her. This also contradicted the vision she had in mind for her character, Furiosa, who was previously portrayed by Charlize Theron.

Taylor-Joy had wanted Furiosa in the film to do more than just confront Dementus (portrayed by Chris Hemsworth), who held her captive destroyed her life. She wanted to escape at any cost and exact revenge on him, destroying his life in turn.

Specifically, the actress pictured Furiosa deciding Dementus' fate. The final version of the film ends with her planting a peach pit into his body, which produces a peach tree years later and he slowly rots as part of nature.

"It's a very difficult conversation to have," she admitted, in speaking about working with Miller after months of alleged disagreements on set. "If I were to be completely honest about my experience, it would hurt nobody but myself."

"I just advocated and advocated and advocated for her to live up to her name," Taylor-Joy added. She continued that advocacy for months during the shoot, arguing about what would ultimately happen to her character. "That was my mountain on that movie, and I got it, but it was hard, hard won."

Entertainment Weekly contacted reps for George Miller and Warner Bros. Studios and did not receive an immediate response.

Taylor-Joy previously told Entertainment Weekly in 2024 about her experience working on Furiosa.

"I wanted something that was going to challenge my body and soul, and it was definitely that," she admitted. "I think I was surprised. What I thought would be difficult was really easy, and what I thought would be easy was actually very difficult."
