Thirty years after her death, Nicole Brown Simpson's loved ones continue to honor her memory.
Joseph Perrulli who briefly dated the star in the '90s, is the latest to open up about his relationship with her. In an exclusive interview with PEOPLE, Perrulli revealed he was introduced to Brown Simpson by their mutual friend, Kris Jenner, in 1989. Nothing would happen between them, however, as Nicole was still married to O.J. Simpson at the time. They would eventually fall in love in 1992, following her separation from the former football player.
And while they had great chemistry, Perrulli revealed their relationship didn't last long, owing to O.J.'s unnerving behavior. In one instance, he detailed how one seemingly perfect date night turned eerie. The pair had gone out to dinner with the Jenners and not wanting the evening to end, Nicole invited Perrulli back to her new rental home in Brentwood. They spent the night chatting and getting to know each other. All seemed well, until it was time for him to go home.
"When I walked out of her house, I thought I smelled her perfume. It was like she had just been standing there," he revealed. "She had a distinctive fragrance. I got this eerie feeling. I walked to my car and kept feeling the need to look over my shoulder." Perrulli would later learn that O.J. and Nicole both wore the same scent, Paco Rabanne, and that O.J. had been spotted in the bushes outside Nicole's home the night of the date.
After several more uncomfortable run-ins with the former Buffalo Bills running back, Perrulli decided to end the relationship with Nicole. "I didn't think I could live my life like this, feeling like this man's lurking everywhere I go," he told PEOPLE.
Wanting to move on with his life, he hid all the photos and letters they had exchanged in a briefcase that he "purposefully tried to forget for the better part of 33 years." Not until recently did he revisit the mementos, which are now the inspiration for his new book, The Forgotten Briefcase.

Perrulli was a shoe salesman at Neiman Marcus at the time he met Nicole and he described what it was like working with her.
"She wasn't even remotely interested in anything new," he recalled. "She picked up a plain black pump. Here I am, this 28-year-old kid, giving her fashion tips: 'I don't think a black pump would work with a formal.' She cracked a smile and said, 'I hate wearing shoes, anyway.'"

As for her musical tastes, Perrulli revealed she liked "everything but country."
